Royal Cinque Ports, Deal, is one of the best links courses in the country, with undulating fairways, amazing greens hidden among massive grass covered sand dunes and bunkers, the likes of which are unique for this type of course.

We are playing one round for the Northcliffe Cup with members paying £95 and guests £130. This includes coffee and bacon rolls on arrival, 18 holes and a full carvery meal followed by the presentation of prizes.

With Covid-19 restrictions lifted, there will also be “Nearest the Pin” on the tricky 3rd hole, a  2’s competition and Ball Sweep.

It is such a memorable course to play, whether you struggle to cope with the amazing links lay-out or play well enough to tame the greens, it has to be one of the highlights of our year which is quite a recommendation when the quality of our other fixtures are considered.

There is no need for more details about the day, just go to their website to see what a golfing treat this will be.

This fixture follows the annual match against North Foreland Golf Club on the previous day, with many members overnighting locally to save long journeys back home.  There is a strong team already booked to play at North Foreland but if you would like to play then email me at

Because of the popularity of Deal, so many members have already reserved their places to play so there are only a few spare tee-times available, despite an increase in the numbers booked compared with other years.

As and when we have a full house, there will be a reserve list for any late cancellations.

Last year, Dan Schwarz who had won the year before, was beaten on countback by Felix Duckworth with Clive Heard in third place.
