North Foreland Golf Club had a convincing win in the 20th anniversary match against the Northcliffe Golfing Society in this year’s match.
There was a full house turnout and on paper the Northcliffe team were looking good, but that is as far as they got when match after match was won by the home team, with the Northcliffe only managing six wins against the Club’s 11, with one match halved.
To mark the occasion the Club presented all  players with  a bottle of wine with a  specially produced label marking the anniversary and Club Captain,  Ted Illsley, said the match was one of their most popular fixtures.
Northcliffe Captain Lisa Heywood presented the Lord Northcliffe Trophy to Ted and thanked the Club for the wonderful welcome the team had received.
The plan is that next year’s competition will be four ball better ball as a change from the usual  Canadian foursomes  format that has been played over the years, so giving  everyone the chance to enjoy  a full round of golf. The Club now lead the Northcliffe by    11 – 9
