The next fixture is Addington Palace Monday, June 24    —   Cost for members £59 all inclusive!

For this bargain price, there are two rounds of golf (no reduction if playing just the one) on one of the undiscovered golfing gems just outside of Croydon in South London.

Though regarded as one of Surrey’s best courses, it is many years since the Society last played Addington Palace when the very first match against the Press Golfing Society was played.  It was a test run to see if the match should become an annual fixture for both societies……. and the rest is now history.

Former Society assistant secretary Derek Price, an honorary member of the Club, suggested that it would a good test for both the Northcliffe and the Press Golfing Society.

It was such a successful event that both Societies agreed to make it the annual event that has now been played on so many wonderful courses both in this country and abroad.

Derek sadly passed away earlier this year and the Society Committee decided that, with the June postponement to September of the Inter-Company golf and tennis weekend, that it would be fitting to hold a fixture at Addington Palace during the vacant month.

Try not to miss out on this extra fixture, you will be in for a real golfing treat.  One person who plans to be definitely playing is Society Captain, Nick Stevens, who is attempting his third successive title win after claiming the trophies at both The Grove and Walton Heath.   Playing off his new Society handicap of scratch, he would be setting a Society record if he was to succeed.

The £59 cost of the day for members includes prizes and champagne for “Nearest the Pin”, both morning and afternoon, the Ball Sweep and 2’s competition, bacon butty to start the day, lunch and sandwiches. The cost for associate members £75 and guests £85.

You do not have to change for lunch, just as long as golfing clothes are clean and dry.

Buggies must be booked in advance so contact the Club Professional, 0208 654 3061 Option 1.

If you are playing your Match Play Knock-Out then it might be possible for you to go out as a 2 x ball.

Next up after Addington Palace will be THE BERKSHIRE, TUESDAY, JULY 9. This is followed by the Northwood fixture, Monday, August 19 and then the double header annual match against North Foreland Golf Club, Sunday, September 1 and Royal Cinque Ports the following day at neighbouring Deal, Monday, September 2.

If overnighting locally, there is a 10% discount for Society members at the local Pegwell Bay hotel – 01843 599590 – but mention you are with the Daily Mail group playing at North Foreland when booking.

Remember to make sure all these dates are in your diaries, you don’t want to miss out on these wonderful golf events .
